Coca Cola is the most popular and well known fizzy drink in the world. It started in 1886 in Georgia, USA. By 1900 is was already shipped throughout Europe and Asia.
But all though we all know about this black fizzy refreshment, according to BBC, there are 2 countries where you cannot buy it, and one of them was the third country to start bottling it!
#1 – North Korea
If you have tried to guess beforehand, this may have been an easy one. North Korea is known for their… restrictive… ways. All though this has more to do with USA Trade embargoes stopping trade in North Korea than North Korea preventing Coca-Cola within it’s country.
All though some sources say they have managed to buy Coca-Cola in North Korea, The fizzy drink company has said if that is happening, it is done through the black market and not from direct trade.
#2 – Cuba
Despite being the third country in the world to bottle Coca-Cola, they now don’t sell it at all. Coca-Cola moved out of Cuba when Fidel Castro’s government began seizing private assets in the 1960s, and has never returned due to their own USA Trade embargo since 1962.
Before 2011, there were three countries that did not sell Coca-Cola. From 1962 to 2011, the USA had trade sanctions on Burma due to it’s military (Junta) rule of the country. This ban was lifted when Burma started becoming a more democratic nation.
